I am Erin Louis, a CPA living and working in Seattle, Washington. I am passionate about queer rights and strive to use my skills and knowledge to help my community. I have a small CPA firm, Advocate Accounting, LLC where I specialize in tax preparation for Registered Domestic Partners in community property states (WA, NV and CA). I also specialize in non-profit consulting and accounting. As a firm we specialize in working with individuals and small businesses located in WA, CA, OR, HI, ID and MT. We provide a range of services including payroll, bookkeeping, taxes, and consulting.
I often use my free time to volunteer for local non-profits. I am currently the Board Treasurer for Stonewall Youth, an organization providing community support services for queer youth up to the age of twenty-one. In the past I have worked with Capital City Pride, Budd Bay Rugby, and various political campaigns. I am also the accounting and operations manager at Fuse Washington.
When I am not working or volunteering, I often find myself researching and reading about the issues that concern me as a lesbian, and ultimately the issues that concern many in my community, however they identify. I’m starting this blog, in a way, to have a place for all that I am involved in to come together. I will be posting entries regarding tax issues and strategies, personal financial tools and tips, updates on current legislation and law suits involving LGBT rights and various other subjects.
